Stunning Skylar is now looking for her forever family.
Introducing the beautiful Skylar, a 7 month old female (DOB 02/11/2023) Akita who has come into our care through no fault of her own. She is currently in a foster home where she is showing what a sweetheart she really is.
Skylar can live with a calm, male, neutered canine companion, infact a home with another dog would massively benefit her as she looks to the other dogs in her foster home for guidance. She cannot live with cats or small animals due to her prey drive.
Out on her walks she is happy to go and follow the other dogs but when walked alone she is not as confident. Her lead training is going well and she is learning to walk nicely, she still can pull on the lead so this training will need to be continued in her new home. She does still get nervous of cars and traffic noise.
Skylar shows no sign of food or toy possessiveness, she does love playing with her toys. Her foster Mum as started to crate train her so she has her own “den” for her own space and this is currently in progress.
Her perfect home would be with someone that is around a good part of the day, maybe a part time worker or someone that works from home, this would be beneficial until she learned her new routine.
Skylar is used to being around children in her foster home and initiates contact and play time with them. If there are children in her new home they will need to be older and calmer as she can be unsure around excitable children.
When she first meets new people she is initially reserved but after a few moments she is happy to be friends and have a fuss and once she knows you she enjoys sharing a cuddle.
Skylar is a youngster who hasn’t had the best start so it is important that her new family are committed to furthering her training and her confidence building. If you think you can offer what this beauty needs we would love to hear from you.
