As many of you know, we are members of the Cat Writers Association (at least, my human is). And you may or may not know that the organization has been around since 1992. They have an annual contest in which professional members judge the best work of the past year. It’s not a popularity contest. The entries are judged on merit alone.
The highest scoring entries earn Certificates of Excellence, and the top scoring of these finalists wins a Muse Medallion. And I’m really happy to say that I have five Certificates in four different categories!
I got two Certificates in the Written/Health category for:
Feline Injection Site Sarcoma — What You Need to Know About This Dreaded and Deadly Cancer
What’s That Freckle in My Cat’s Eye? What You Need to Know About Iris Melanosis
It was actually kind of cool to have these acknowledged because I don’t usually cover a lot of health topics since it’s not a specialty here. These topics just happen to be something my human is interested in and knows something about because they concern me.
I also earned a Certificate in the Written Article: General/Other for:
Six Essential Cat-Centric New Year’s Resolutions for You!
And also in the Photography (Series) category for the photos that appeared here:
In addition to my blog posts, I got a Certificate in the Social Media: Entertainment category for my Instagram account, where you may know me as @summerstravels
I won’t know if any of these won a Muse Medallion until the awards ceremony in late October. There are so many amazing writers, photographers and creators in CWA, and the competition is stiff! So just earning the Certificates is an honor.
You can see a short video of me and the Certificates below.
